    Farming / Working Dogs

"...they are now a lot healthier and recover a lot quicker from a hard days work."

“For a long time now I had been looking for a method of feeding my dogs without having to go through the tedious and costly exercise of cutting up dog tucker each week.

For the past four months I have now been feeding my 4 dogs on the combination of the palaMOUNTAINS Exceed dog food enhancer and dog biscuits. I find that all my dogs have increased in condition, they are now a lot healthier and recover a lot quicker from a hard days work. I would strongly recommend that farmers seriously consider this feeding program to promote healthier working dogs and also profit from the savings that they will return.”

"I consider my dogs a necessity to help me to accomplish a job well done through a hard days work.  I’m pretty fussy with what I feed them and how they look,  the right condition means good performance.

Until recently I fed my dogs a varied diet including meat, biscuits, house scraps etc. Then I was put on to feeding palaMOUNTAINS Exceed to my dogs. I soon realised that they did extremely well on it.

So I tried the skinny one first with just biscuits and palaMOUNTAINS Exceed. She picked up and is holding her condition well, so I introduced the others to this diet. I’m thrilled at the results. At the end of a hard day you’re pretty stuffed to start chopping up legs and arms etc to the dogs. They’re getting a nutritional and balanced diet on biscuits & palaMOUNTAINS Exceed and giving me their top performance in return. No more unnecessary killing dog tuckers which now saves me overall time and money that can be put to other uses."

“I admit I was sceptical prior to this trial, but am pleased with the results. My dogs certainly enjoyed the palaMOUNTAINS Exceed and they all go for it. One of my dogs would not eat biscuits readily but now I can’t keep him out of the dog motel. My bitch chewed the dispensing bottle (of Exceed).”

palaMOUNTAINS Exceed will improve the acceptability of dog biscuits.”

“My dogs all enjoyed palaMOUNTAINS Exceed, in fact some of them lick it off prior to eating the biscuits.

As the dogs are not working hard at present I conducted a light feeding experiment using Exceed and although I expected them to lose condition this was not the case and they have all finished up with shiny coats and looking good.”

"It is quite common that despite apparent good feeding (both quantity and quality) there are some dogs that appear to be impossible to get a reasonable amount of condition on/or they run out of energy towards the end of a hard day. If you can relate to this then:-

    • Worm all dogs with a broad-spectrum wormer – Drontal or Paratak Plus.
    • Ensure the diet is adequate and balanced – not too much frozen meat.

If this doesn’t fix the problem I can recommend a product called palaMOUNTAINS Exceed. We have had this product for a while and at first I wrote it off as yet another supplement making unsubstantiated claims – one of 100’s! However, based on some unsolicited rave reviews from a few local farmers who have used it and more of a “look” into its formulation we have come to the conclusion that this is a very good product.

Example 1 – Farmer with a 6-7 year hold huntaway that had always been a bit thin. After three weeks of supplementation the dog was in the best condition ever with a shiny coat etc.

Example 2 – Yard dogs at the freezing works usually lacking in energy by the end of the day. After a week of supplementation they had limitless energy at the end of the day.

Exceed has been formulated at Massey University and contains all essential vitamins and minerals but also contains 90% polyunsaturated fats – dogs have a relatively high requirement for fats and it is this that is probably the difference between Exceed & “the rest”.  Exceed can be poured onto any type of dog food (meat, biscuits, roll) and is extremely palatable – the bowl will almost be eaten to get the last drop. I know most of you like to see healthy working dogs with a shiny coat – give palaMOUNTAINS Exceed a try if your dog’s appearance and/or stamina need improving."

    Greyhounds

    Mike Martin

    Greyhound Trainer

    Tokoroa, New Zealand

"We have trained greyhounds for 23 years and the first we heard of palaMOUNTAINS Exceed was from a fellow trainer who had a dog that was not performing well, he bought it to me to have a look at to see if I could maybe identify an injury that would explain it’s drop in performance. The dog had a poor coat and did not look happy at all out there was no apparent injury. I suggested that he spell the dog for a short time. The next time I saw the dog after a few weeks it had a shiny coat, a bright eye and looked the picture of health, it also won it’s next three races in a row. I asked the trainer what he had done to turn the dog around and he said that while spelling he had put it on a course of palaMOUNTAINS Exceed.

There are many products on the market with all sorts of claims made about them so I was a bit skeptical but on reading the literature on palaMOUNTAINS Exceed now for three months and find it an excellent product. We find it is easy to get a good dog to run fast but the hardest part is to keep it performing all season and palaMOUNTAINS Exceed does the trick. With the new era of dog racing there are so many meetings around the art of training seems to be as much about recovery as anything and the dogs we have on palaMOUNTAINS Exceed are able to back up regularly without a drop in performance. All of their coats have improved and the dogs just seem to thrive with hard work.

I like the idea that it is a fat based additive as in my experience a lot of trainers are that careful with a greyhounds weight they forget about the importance of fat to the racing dog. I would recommend palaMOUNTAINS Exceed to any owner of a dog requiring hard regular work."

"palaMOUNTAINS Exceed has improved their coat condition, energy levels, work recovery and it’s the first thing they eat off their food!"

“My name is Chelsea Marriner, I’m 15 years old and I own, train and handle three working dogs - ‘Quest’ 2 ½ yrs, ‘Bree’ 3yrs & ‘Brodi’ 12 yrs. My dogs compete in Agility, Flygility and Paws & Music.

All three are NZ Agility Champions and are qualified as Agility Dog Excellent. Quest and Brodi also have their Companion Dog Excellent titles and Bree has her Flygility Dog Excellent title.

I first started Brodi on palaMOUNTAINS-Exceed after she suffered first a cancer operation then a bad car accident. She showed such an improvement that I now use it on all my dogs.

  • FAQ's

Why feed a working dog supplements?

Recent scientific evidence suggests that working / athletic dogs in medium to heavy work require a diet of 25-30% fat content, as a standard diet of proteins (meats) and carbohydrates / fibre (biscuits) will not provide all of the nutrients and energy levels necessary. physical work places excess demands upon the body, which is why a good balance of vitamins & minerals will help them to perform better and maintain their strength & stamina.

Along with a balanced diet a good dietary supplement is required in order for your dog to avoid disease and ensure good health. A quality supplement is high in good fats (omega 3 & 6) and offers essential vitamins & minerals. Although a good balanced diet will provide a solid foundation, food alone cannot supply all of the nutrients necessary to fulfill the unique requirements. All animals have different nutritional requirements and factors such as age, activity level, environment, genetics and breed. These will greatly affect the absorption of nutrients from foods. It is therefore important to provide your dog with extra nutrients which will assist the body to successfully work, grow and develop properly.

    Liquid supplements vs Powder supplements?

Solid vitamins are manufactured in pill or powder form and have been proven to deliver only 10-20% absorption rates while liquid supplements have up to 98% absorption rates so therefore offer more nutritional efficiency and value for money. It is also important to note that liquids offer less waste and provide a far superior alternative.

    What is Exceed?

Exceed is a 'world first' liquid multiviatmin & mineral supplement scientifically formulated for the working dog i.e. greyhounds, farm, hunting & agility dogs. Exceed is high in fat (omega 3 & 6) and contains an essential balance of both fat & water soluble vitamins and minerals. It also contains flavourings of yeast, garlic & meat for high palatability. The unique formulation has been scientifically formulated by internationally renown scientists at Massey University and offers extraordinary absorption rates of 99.5%.

What are the benfits of feeding Exceed?

Exceed will offer your dog the required increased fat content that is essential for increased performance and stamina along with the unique combination of essential nutrients which will help promote overall health, skin & coat condition, assist with food utilisation and digestion. Recent trials at Massey University have PROVEN that Exceed significantly improves the ability to fight infection and disease, enhances endurance levels and reduces the amount of faecal output.

What is the difference between Exceed & mybeau?

mybeau has been scientifically formulated for the domestic cat & dog and Exceed has been formulated for the endurance dog. Exceed has slightly higher levels of water soluble vitamins as the endurance dog sweats and urinates more and therefore requires a higher replacement level. Exceed is now also available in convenient Gel Capsules containing Creatine for muscle hydration and offers added power and strength.

How do I feed Exceed and how often?

Exceed has been formulated to be simply poured over a meal. However because the formulation is highly palatable it can also be fed alone. It is recommended that Exceed be fed daily for 21 days as a BOOST and then MAINTENANCE a few times a week thereafter. The new Gel Capsules are fed daily by adding to a meal or simply feeding by hand.

Does Exceed have a shelf life?

Exceed has been formulated to have a 24 month shelf life. It is however important to keep Exceed stored in a cool place and out of direct sunlight.
